What AIR Sessions Cover
NASTF defines the AIR program as covering remote reprogramming of Electronic Control Modules (ECM), Body Control Modules (BCM), and Passive Anti-Theft Systems (PATS). In practice, certified providers use OEM software through your J2534 passthru to handle a broader range of related module and security tasks:
- ECM / PCM reprogramming after replacement or OEM software update
- BCM replacement and security parameter transfer
- PATS (Ford), passlock/passkey relearn (GM), and equivalent systems
- ABS / EBCM module programming
- TCM reprogramming and transmission adaptation reset
- PMI (Product Module Integration) procedures
- Re-adding a lost key when at least one enrolled key is present
- OEM software patches and calibration updates
One hard limit: Remote AIR sessions cannot perform ALL KEYS LOST procedures. NASTF policy requires physical presence for that. See our all-keys-lost guide.
